Introducing My Darling Heart. A delightfully gorgeous range of creative bespoke wedding favours, paper decor and other pretties for truly beautiful events. Based in Brisbane and available online, here’s Katy from My Darling Heart sharing some ever so helpful information.
WHO? My name is Katy and I live in Brisbane, I run My Darling Heart from my home studio and I’m at my happiest when I’m crafting, creating or making something pretty! I’m inspired by couples who want to make their wedding day personal, creative and memorable and sweet little wedding details make my heart sing. WHAT? I create vintage inspired wedding favors and pretty packaging. I believe the presentation is just as important as the gift itself and giving thoughtful, beautiful favors to your guests is an important part of your wedding – it’s these little details and finishing touches that really bring your wedding decor together! WHERE? I’m based in Brisbane and I offer free shipping to anywhere in Australia and can also ship to beautiful New Zealand. Many of my designs are available as DIY favors, which means you can purchase the packaging only and then fill with whatever you wish to give your guests (a perfect option if you want to give you guests home baked goods!). I also offer a hire + styling service for wedding favor stations in the South East Queensland area. YOU CREATE BEAUTIFUL WEDDING FAVORS, HOW SHOULD COUPLES CHOOSE THE RIGHT FAVOR FOR THEIR GUESTS? Couples should first of all remember that the days of giving sugared almonds in little organza bags are over (thank goodness!). Your favors are an opportunity to thank your wedding guests in a thoughtful and stylish way, so you should think about what is important to you as a couple and what you love. Think about what ties in with the rest of your wedding decor, and what is significant to you as a couple. If you’re still unsure I am very happy to give advice and to create the perfect favor for your wedding! WHAT POPULAR FAVORS ARE YOU SEEING AT THE MOMENT? Any favors that are super creative, vintage-inspired with a handmade feel and reflective of the bridal couple’s personality are very on trend at the moment. ‘Mini’ is quite popular as well – mini picnic baskets, letterboxes, gum ball machines, jars of jam or honey – guests just love the cuteness! HAS THERE EVER BEEN ANYTHING A BIT ‘LEFT OF CENTRE’ THAT COUPLES HAVE OFFERED TO THEIR GUESTS? Non-edible favors are a little bit unusual bit still popular such as mini succulents or tree saplings in pots. They’re a really sweet idea as your guests can take them home and plant them, and have a lasting memory of your wedding!
WHAT’S YOUR IDEAL WINTER FAVOR? I love hot chocolate and marshmallows as a cute winter favor – they can be packaged into sweet little individual favour bags and wedding guests can take them home or back to their hotel and have a late night winter warmer after the wedding festivities are over – so cute and thoughtful! WHAT IS THE SWEETEST FAVOR YOU’VE SEEN GIVEN? The sweetest favor I’ve ever seen given was at a wedding in the States where the bride baked hundreds of the groom’s favorite cupcake to give to their guests. They were each packaged individually and placed on the guest’s place settings – can’t get much sweeter than that!
TOP TIP? So much thought goes into the favors you will give to your wedding guests, so the packaging should be just as lovely as the contents!
