Winter Makeup | Angela Renee

1st September 2014

There  is so much I love about winter.  Mulled wine, cosy evenings by the fireplace and winter fashion to name a few.

It’s also ball and event season – time to step into the cool, looking and feeling ,no less than amazing for that next party or formal gathering.

As you decide which sequined dress will work with the dress code, look to the red carpet of Hollywood, film and editorials for endless inspiration. It may be 1920’s glamour, boho, or slick that excites you.

Just like every season, there are no rules and plenty of ideas on offer to suit any complexion, mood and occasion.

Keep it real with a dewy luminous cover of foundation. Less makeup is more this season for a barely there look of sheer coverage. Highlight the cheek bones subtly and apply a bronzer instead of a blush, but remember – keep it light.

-Enhance your eyes with bold, liquid eyeliner of daring shade’s. MAC “Smokey heir”  for full on fun,  BLINC “ultra-thin liquid liner” for sexy and demure or SMASHBOX limitless liner in “Jet black” for  every day.

-Add some eye colour with sheer washes of metallic shadows. From soft milky gold’s and bronze’s through to monochromatic shots of rich gunmetal and charcoal. Finish with liquid eyeliner of course.

Lips are pale, natural and barely there with neutral inspired tones like MAC “Cream d nude SMASHBOX “Nylon nude” and  ADDICTION MINERALS “Fergie” Perfect for a lighter complexion.

-You guessed it, if barely there is not your style then embrace a bold lip of any shade of  red or plum. Lordes new MAC lip colour “Heroine” inspires a grunge to glamour appeal. Autumnal tones of burnt chocolates and hot oranges such as BOBBIE BROWN “Burnt red”, ADICTION MINERALS “Munroe” or MAC “Diva” are some of my favourites. What I love about a bold lip this winter is how easily you can transform your total look with a quick lip application. A feature lip also translates easily from a day look into the evening.

Define your brows but just enough. We can all appreciate a beautifully defined brow, but soften it up, brows are becoming more natural too.

Take some time to consider your outfit, add colour to your makeup that will enhance your garment but not match it.

The general rule is choose your favourite facial feature and own it. You may see your eyes as your asset  and love wearing deep eye makeup to enhance them. You can balance your look perfectly with a pale lip or splash of tinted lip gloss.

When enhancing your lips hold back with your eyes. A nude eye looks amazing with a generous application of mascara. Or team your bright lip with a sleek liquid liner.

And most importantly FEEL amazing, and you will look twice as good !

Evening glamour is so fashionable right now , so embrace all of its glory and glitter and Enjoy.
